Hands on Workshop for KE College Students.

ABTEC successfully conducted a 4-day intensive workshop for 80 undergraduate science students from Chemistry, Zoology and Botany department of KE College, Mannanam, who were accompanied by their faculty members. To ensure focused learning and individual attention, the students were divided into four batches of 20 each. During the program, participants received hands on training in various activities across ABTEC’s Microbiology Lab and Green Chemistry Lab. The sessions were led by Dr. Hemand Aravind, Head of Research at ABTEC Integrated Bio Chemical Lab, who lead a series of insightful seminars and practical sessions.

As part of the workshop, students underwent equipment familiarization and training sessions designed to help them understand the practical applications of various laboratory instruments used in microbiology and green chemistry. They were introduced to the operation, calibration and maintenance of key equipment such as fermenter, flame photometer, autoclave, laminar air flow, spectrophotometer, Y-tube analyser, incubator, pH meters etc. The sessions emphasized safety protocols, accurate handling techniques and analytical procedures, enabling students to gain confidence in performing experiments independently. This hands on exposure not only strengthened their technical competence but also bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and real world practices.

This collaborative initiative provided both students and faculty with valuable industry exposure, enhancing their practical understanding and teaching capabilities, giving them a distinct advantage in their future academic and professional pursuits.
