ABTEC & M.D. Higher School Launch “One Home, One Farmer” Campaign.
Reaffirming its commitment to sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship, ABTEC Ltd. partnered with M.D. Seminary Higher Secondary School, Kottayam, to launch the “One Home, One Farmer” campaign on 27th June 2026.
The initiative aims to inspire young minds to embrace home gardening and develop a deeper appreciation for farming. As part of the campaign, 360 selected students were provided with vegetable saplings and encouraged to establish and maintain a vegetable garden at their homes.
To make the initiative engaging and impactful, a Vegetable Garden Contest has been announced. Students will nurture their gardens over the coming weeks, and the three best home vegetable gardens will be recognized and honoured during the Harvest Festival, scheduled for August 2026 as part of the Onam celebrations. The contest seeks to cultivate not only healthy vegetables but also responsibility, environmental awareness, and respect for the invaluable role of farmers in society.
The programme was inaugurated by Shri. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Honourable Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. The inaugural function was attended by Mr. Jacob John, Principal, M.D. Seminary Higher Secondary School; Mr. K. J. Jacob, Chairman, ABTEC Ltd.; Mr. Bibin Jacob, Managing Director, ABTEC Ltd.; Mr. Thomas Abraham, Director, M.D.
Higher Secondary School; Ms. Reji G. V., Deputy Director of Agriculture, Kottayam; and Mr. Madhu Mohan, PTA President.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasized the importance of reconnecting the younger generation with agriculture, promoting food security through home cultivation, and fostering environmentally responsible practices. The campaign encourages every participating student to become a young ambassador for sustainable living by experiencing the joy of growing fresh vegetables at home.
Through initiatives like “One Home, One Farmer,” ABTEC continues to champion sustainable agriculture, environmental education and community participation. By nurturing a new generation of young growers, we hope to inspire families to cultivate healthier lifestyles while strengthening the bond between people, nature and farming.
