A Home Built with Compassion, A Story Written by Humanity.

On just the second day after taking charge as Kottayam District Collector, Shri. Chetan Kumar Meena IAS, met a visitor who would leave a lasting impact on his heart, a poor woman from the suburbs of Kottayam, battling cancer, carrying not just her illness but the burden of her struggling family. She had been running behind the Panchayath for a home a safe shelter for her family. Her husband, a severe cardiac and pulmonology patient, could barely walk a few meters without difficulty. Their life was fragile, uncertain and filled with hardship. Moved by her pain, the Collector did not just listen he cared. He offered her food and ₹100 for her bus fare to return home a small gesture that reflected a very big heart. But he did not stop there. After conducting a proper background verification and confirming that every word she spoke was true, he decided to act. With deep compassion, he reached out to our Chairman, Shri K J Jacob, seeking support to build this deserving family a home. That call became a mission. Team ABTEC took complete responsibility from documentation and plan approvals to appointing the contractor and executing the construction. With focused effort and dedication, the house was completed in less than four months. ABTEC proudly invested ₹10 lakhs to make this dream a reality not as charity, but as a commitment to humanity. On February 26th 2025, the day of handing over, it was a moment of immense pride and emotion when Collector Chetan Kumar Meena IAS personally attended the housewarming ceremony, blessing the family and witnessing the transformation his compassion had initiated. Today, this house stands not just as a structure of bricks and cement, but as a symbol of empathy, leadership and collective responsibility.
