Plant Details

Coconut is a versatile crop known as the “tree of life” in many tropical regions. It thrives in sandy, well-drained soil with high organic content and requires a warm climate with temperatures between 25–35°C. The coconut palm produces coconuts, which are used for their water, oil, milk, and flesh. Coconut products are integral to food, cosmetics, and industrial applications. The tree also provides coir for ropes and mats and wood for construction. It begins bearing fruit within 6–8 years and produces for several decades. Regular irrigation, fertilization, and pest control enhance yields. Coconut cultivation supports livelihoods in tropical areas and is a vital export commodity. Its nutritional and economic value makes it a globally significant crop.
