Plant Details
Amla, also known as Indian gooseberry, is a small, green fruit grown for its high vitamin C content and medicinal properties. It thrives in tropical and subtropical climates with temperatures between 20–30°C and requires well-drained, fertile soil with good organic matter content. Amla trees are propagated from seeds or cuttings and start fruiting within 3–4 years, producing fruits for several decades. Amla is used in traditional medicine to improve immunity, digestion, and skin health. The fruit is also consumed fresh, processed into juices, jams, and dietary supplements. Amla cultivation is low-input, drought-resistant, and economically beneficial due to its demand in food and health markets.
