Plant Details
Fenugreek is an annual herb grown for its leaves and seeds, which are used as spices and for medicinal purposes. It thrives in cool, temperate climates with temperatures between 10–25°C and requires well-drained, sandy loam soil. Fenugreek seeds are sown directly in the soil and mature within 3–4 months. The seeds are rich in protein, fiber, and bioactive compounds that support digestion, reduce inflammation, and manage blood sugar levels. The leaves are used in cooking, and the seeds are processed into powders and extracts. Fenugreek cultivation requires minimal input and is suitable for small-scale farming. It is a valuable crop due to its culinary versatility, medicinal properties, and role in crop rotation for improving soil fertility.
