Plant Details

Sunflower is a versatile oilseed crop grown for its edible seeds and oil. It thrives in warm climates with temperatures between 20–30°C and requires well-drained, fertile loamy soil. Sunflowers are drought-tolerant and can be grown in regions with moderate rainfall. The seeds are used in snacks, baking, and oil extraction, while the residual meal serves as high-protein animal feed. Sunflower oil is valued for its light flavor and health benefits, including reducing cholesterol levels. The plants are also used in ornamental gardening and for their ability to remove toxins from the soil. Sunflower farming involves minimal inputs, making it an economically and environmentally sustainable crop.
