Plant Details
Ginger is a tropical herbaceous plant grown for its aromatic rhizomes used in culinary and medicinal applications. It thrives in warm, humid climates with temperatures between 25–30°C and requires fertile, well-drained loamy soil rich in organic matter. Ginger rhizomes are planted and harvested after 8–10 months. It is consumed fresh, dried, or processed into powder, oils, and pastes. Ginger is known for its anti-inflammatory and digestive properties and is widely used in teas, curries, and baked goods. The crop requires regular irrigation and fertilization to ensure high yields. Ginger cultivation is labor-intensive but economically rewarding, making it a popular crop in tropical and subtropical regions.
