Plant Details
Cinnamon is a tropical spice derived from the bark of Cinnamomum trees. It grows best in warm, humid climates with temperatures between 20–30°C and thrives in well-drained, sandy loam soil rich in organic content. Cinnamon trees are cultivated for 2–3 years before the bark is harvested, dried, and processed. The spice is used in sweet and savory dishes, beverages, and traditional medicine for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Cinnamon cultivation requires proper pruning, irrigation, and pest management. The crop is labor-intensive but highly profitable, especially in regions like Sri Lanka, which is known for its high-quality cinnamon. Its unique aroma, flavor, and health benefits make it a valuable commodity globally.
