Plant Details
Coffee is a globally significant beverage crop known for its stimulating properties due to caffeine. It grows best in cool, high-altitude regions with temperatures between 15–24°C and requires well-drained loamy soil with high organic content. Coffee plants need shade and regular rainfall for optimal growth. There are two primary species: Arabica, known for its mild flavor, and Robusta, valued for its strong taste. Coffee is harvested, fermented, and roasted to produce beans used in beverages and confectioneries. Its cultivation supports millions of farmers worldwide and significantly impacts economies in tropical regions. Proper pest and disease management, along with sustainable farming practices, ensure high yields. Coffee is prized for its aroma, flavor, and energizing effects, making it one of the most traded commodities globally.
