Onion is a widely cultivated bulb vegetable known for its pungent flavor and versatility in cooking. It thrives in mild to warm climates with temperatures between 15–25°C and requires well-drained, sandy loam soil rich in organic matter. Onions are grown from seeds, sets, or transplants and mature in 90–120 days. They are consumed fresh, cooked, or processed into powders, pickles, and dehydrated flakes. for seeds: Treat the seeds required for one hectare with 1 kg each of biofertilizers viz., Azospirillum, Phosphobacteria, (or) Azophos, using rice gruel, shade dry for 30 minutes before sowing.

Dosage
“Azospirillum @ 400 g/kg of seed using rice gruel as adhesive, dry under shade for 30 minutes and sow them.
Apply VAM 1 kg/sq. m in the beds along with FYM 10 kg/sq.m before sowing.”
