Plant Details
Sapota, also known as chikoo, is a tropical fruit with a sweet, caramel-like flavor. It grows well in warm, humid climates with temperatures between 20–30°C and requires well-drained, sandy loam soil rich in organic matter. Sapota trees are hardy and drought-tolerant, requiring minimal maintenance. The fruit is consumed fresh, in juices, or as an ingredient in desserts. Rich in vitamins A and C, fiber, and antioxidants, sapota supports digestion and boosts immunity. The trees begin bearing fruit within 3–5 years and can produce for several decades. Regular pruning and pest management enhance yield and fruit quality. Sapota is widely grown in home gardens and commercial orchards for its nutritional benefits and economic value.
