Plant Details
Tea is a versatile beverage crop cultivated in high-altitude regions with temperatures between 20–30°C. It thrives in acidic, well-drained soils with ample rainfall. Tea bushes are pruned to facilitate harvesting, with leaves plucked manually or mechanically. The leaves are processed into various types, such as black, green, white, and oolong tea. Known for its antioxidants and caffeine content, tea supports heart health and boosts alertness. It is a staple beverage worldwide and a major export crop for countries like India, China, and Sri Lanka. Tea plantations require meticulous care, including regular weeding and pest control. Sustainable practices, such as intercropping and organic farming, enhance soil fertility and product quality. Tea plays a central role in social and cultural traditions globally.
